The problem
Card-testing bots run hundreds of small payment attempts through a store's checkout, causing declines, fees and fake customer records.
What Linesman does
- Starts in Watch mode, so you see what it would block before you turn blocking on
- Checks carts at the payment step with a Shopify checkout rule; store pages are never blocked
- Returning customers, recent buyers and your allow list always pass
- Finds and deletes the fake customer accounts bots create
- Attack mode tightens checks while an attack is running

Getting started
- Install. A read-only scan shows bot activity from recent months.
- Turn on the Linesman embed in the theme editor. The checkout rule starts in Watch mode.
- Watch for up to 7 days, then turn on blocking.
Questions merchants ask
Can it block a real customer?
You start in Watch mode, which only records what Linesman would block and lets every order through. Once blocking is on, returning customers, recent buyers and your allow list always pass.
Will it block Google or hurt my SEO?
No. Linesman never blocks or changes your store pages; it only checks carts at the payment step.
Does it slow down my store?
The script is under 8 KB, loads after your page, and starts its browser check only when a shopper interacts with the page.
Do I need Shopify Plus?
No Plus plan is required. Linesman needs the Online Store channel and doesn't support headless storefronts.
